Im a big Jeeves and Wooster fan. Both of the books and the 1990’s TV show. Whoever came up with the idea of casting Stephen Fry & Hugh Laurie as the two main characters deserves a knighthood and a Nobel Peace Prize at the very very least. Mrs Zym and I were watching an old DVD of it the other night and there was song featured called ‘47 Ginger Headed Sailors’ - and much to my amazement, its a genuine song!
Something that many people dont realise is that back in the 20s, 30s, & 40,s the ukulele was incredible popular and most of the sheet music available at the time included ukulele chords along with the music notation. It would appear that our fine Australian cousins have an archive of old (mainly pre-1930s) sheet music available to buy or download for over at The National Library of Australia

You can search their archive here http://catalogue.nla.gov.au/ - and if you find any other gems, give me a shout ![]()

We shit on the Saturdays!! ![]()
Camera phone footage of the Hull Ukulele Group practicing ‘Eight Days a Week’ at our last meeting.
I might be a bit biased, but I think it sounds ace. Especially since we’d only played it once before at the previous meeting, and up until 3 months ago most of the people in the room had never even picked up a uke before.
I am a very proud man:D
On Saturday night 11 members of the Hull Ukulele Group played their first gig on top of a canal boat moored on Hull Marina. Driven on by excitment, empty stomachs, and too much booze, we performed various songs from the songbook including I walk the Line, Just cant get enough, The Bucket, Eight days a week, and Im the urban spaceman. Some of of it sounded good, while other bits sounded quite ropey. But all in all it didnt really matter, because the audience enjoyed it, and more inportantly, WE enjoyed it

Interesting article on livescience.com about how playing PC FPS can improve the eyes ability to perceive ‘fine contrast differences’ in tests. This is the ability discern slight differences in shades of gray, or contrast sensitivity, and could make the difference between seeing the car in front of you or not seeing it, if driving at dusk or in fog.
In the new study, her team tested the contrast sensitivity function of 22 students, then divided them into two groups: One group played the action video games “Unreal Tournament 2004″ and “Call of Duty 2.” The other played “The Sims 2,” which is richly visual, but does not require as much visual-motor coordination…
..Those who played the action games showed an average 43 percent improvement in their ability to discern close shades of gray — close to the difference Bavelier had previously observed between game players and non-game players — whereas the Sims players showed no improvement.
Yay, another positive sideeffect of gaming!
