The song was recorded by the Jerry Reed, the bloke who played “Snowman” in the film, and it got to Number 2 in 1977. In my opinion its the best song about transfering large amounts of illegal booze across America that ive ever heard.

I love The smokey and the bandit films - they’re still fabulous today - Jackie Gleason is wonderful as are the other larger than life characters…
