The first of what will no doubt be a very short run series of songs that I will post on a Friday!!
Dont get me wrong, i have loads of new chord sheets of ukulele knocking around, its just that i’m in no way organised enough to keep posting them on a Friday!
First up, I kissed a girl by Katey Perry. I performed this at the recent Hull Ukulele Cabaret. (For the sake of comedy, i kissed a boy 
) In my mind i’m sure i rocked!!!, but as i have said before, If only my singing ability matched my self confidence
The chords are dead easy, there are only 4 of them, its just a matter of getting the timing right!!

One of my favorite Faces/Rod Stewart songs, this one. It works well with a couple of ukes with one playing the riff and one playing the chords.

A simple Jonathan Coulton song for you this week. Its just G, C & D – yay!

11 Sep 08 I’ll climb this blinkin’ ladder
Love him or hate him, i think every (British) Ukulele player needs to have at least one GF song in their repertoire – this is mine.
A quick google shows that there are a few other versions of this song on the interweb, but this one was given to me on a tatty old piece of paper by a family friend when i first started playing the Uke.
I think it does the job quite well, and being in C means its quite good for beginners.

When playing the Ab7, i tend to cheat and use my thumb to finger the ‘G’ String – ooer!

(unfortunately my pc died recently and ive only just go round to replacing it. I havent managed to (ahem) aquire of a copy of MS office as yet, so the chords to this were done on Google Docs which, to be fair, seems rather good, and has the advantage of being able to save files straight to PDF – nice)

WTF!! I love this advert, it makes me squeal with joy like a 6 year old boy
I also love ‘Dont Stop Me Now’ It makes me want to jump up and down like a 6 year old – its just SO FUCKING EXCITING
When i started to look for a ‘uke friendly’ version of this track, i was very surprised to discover that Al over at ukulele hunt hadn’t already done one, so here goes…
The tendancy (for me, anyway) is to play this as fast as possible, but im afriad you’ll have to slow down, cos theres some quick chord changes for the ‘dont stop me now’ bit.
Even if you havent got a copy of Queens Greatest Hits, the chances are that your Dad does. (its the law!!) But if not, get it here

Another one off the juno soundtrack thats been sitting on my HD for months. I would have posted it ages ago, but a baby came along and stole all my spare time
We could argue as to whether this is played with a ‘G’ & ‘C’, or whether its a ‘G’ & ‘Cmaj7′. Or whether its both! (some of the interweb seem to think thats its ‘C’, with a ‘Cmaj7′ at the end of each verse)
Ive decided that IM playing it with a ‘G’ & a ‘Cmaj7′, because i think it sounds nicest :p
It also makes it very easy to play, which is very good for beginners. (Like my friend Rob, who STILL hasnt picked his new Uke up!!) All you have to do lift your index finger and your ring finger (as long as you’re married) to switch between chords! RESULT!
